St. Pete police hunt pickup driver after two pedestrians are seriously hurt

A pickup struck two people Friday night and fled. St. Petersburg police asked the public for tips as both victims were treated for serious injuries.

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.: Police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that struck two pedestrians Friday night and left the scene, St. Petersburg police said.

    Both people on foot were seriously injured. Investigators have not released their names. The truck fled before officers arrived.

    A separate fatal hit-and-run in the city earlier in the week ended with an arrest after detectives used license-plate cameras, the same class of readers Florida this month moved to pull off state highways.

    Anyone with video or a description of the pickup is asked to call St. Petersburg police. Bay News will update this story if a suspect is named.
