PINELLAS PARK, Fla.: Pinellas Park police stopped Camron Chase Roberts at a 7-Eleven, the Bay News desk is reporting.
During the stop, Roberts is accused of shoulder-checking an officer, driving his shoulder into the cop while the contact was still going. Officers then reported finding a firearm.
Roberts did not stay on the scene. After the shoulder check and the gun recovery, he got away from officers. Police say he successfully eluded them from the 7-Eleven.
A warrant was issued after he fled. Pinellas Park police later went to his home and arrested him there. The booking photo on this page is from that arrest.
He is facing alleged charges of possession of a firearm, drug possession, and fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. The fleeing count matches the 7-Eleven getaway. The gun count matches what officers say they found during the stop. Drug possession was also alleged. The substance has not been named.
Shoulder-checking an officer is a physical act. If prosecutors add a count for it, it is usually written as battery on a law enforcement officer or resisting with violence. That paper is not in hand. This file describes the alleged shoulder check as the stop unfolded.
The desk does not yet have the make of the gun, whether it was loaded, or a jail booking number. Those facts come off an arrest affidavit.
Charges are allegations. Roberts is presumed innocent unless a court says otherwise.
