TALLAHASSEE, Fla.: Kevin Guthrie is out as director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management after jumping onto a gubernatorial ticket as a lieutenant-governor running mate, state and campaign officials said in August.
The move lasted about a day in campaign time. The ticket did not survive. What remains is a fight over the paperwork: Gov. Ron DeSantis and Guthrie have given different accounts of whether Guthrie resigned or was fired.
New leadership was named at the division later in August, Spectrum Bay News 9 reported. Hurricane season does not pause for personnel drama. The director’s office runs the state’s disaster logistics, from sandbags to federal reimbursement.
Bay News will follow who is actually signing the situation reports as the 2026 Atlantic season continues.
